Tropical North"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the\u00c2\u00a0Christmas\/New Year&#8217;s holiday we meet Scott&#8217;s parents, brother and his\u00c2\u00a0fiancee in\u00c2\u00a0Northern\u00c2\u00a0Queensland, then flew to\u00c2\u00a0Sydney\u00c2\u00a0for New Year&#8217;s and finally back to Melbourne. \u00c2\u00a0We all arrived in Cairns on Boxing Day and settled into our apartment in Palm Cove.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1927\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a Great Barrier Reef for some\u00c2\u00a0snorkeling\u00c2\u00a0and scuba diving. \u00c2\u00a0Our boat stopped at three different sites on the\u00c2\u00a0Agincourt ribbon reef. \u00c2\u00a0 We did two dives and also did a bit of\u00c2\u00a0snorkeling. \u00c2\u00a0Both were fantastic and more of the coral and animal life actually was closer to the\u00c2\u00a0surface. \u00c2\u00a0We were able to see giant clams, anemones, sea cucumbers, and lots of fantastic coral gardens and colorful fish.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1965\" style=\"width: 501px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 491px) 100vw, 491px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1965\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Getting ready for our first dive<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We also were able to spend a day touring Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation, which is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world and part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. \u00c2\u00a0The park is known for its\u00c2\u00a0rain-forested\u00c2\u00a0mountains that sweep down to long sandy beaches. \u00c2\u00a0It also has crocodiles, so we were heading on a river tour to see if we could find a through the\u00c2\u00a0rain forest\u00c2\u00a0to learn about the flora and fauna.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1907\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a where British navigator James Cook, of the ship Endevour hit a nearby reef naming it Cape Tribulation for all his trouble.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1910\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The family enjoying the tour<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The last stop of the day was a one-hour river cruise. \u00c2\u00a0On the cruise we saw lots of birds, snakes, and even a few crocodiles. \u00c2\u00a0It was a good way to end the day in Daintree. \u00c2\u00a0And luckily we were well on the way back to Palm Cove when it started pouring down raining.<\/p>\n<div
