Since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to pop in and have a visit!

We were meant to drop the car we rented off in Toulouse when we arrived, but we decided to keep it for a couple more days to tour around the area. After a lot more hassle than we expected (because we had had the car for 30 days already) we convinced them to let us keep it for a couple more days.

Courtney and Prakash at the overlook from St. Cirq Lapopie

First stop we made were the beautiful hillside villages of St. Cirq Lapopie and Rocamadour.

Pretty stunning location

After a long day of driving we were treated to a fantastic dinner cooked by his host family who were were allowed to stay with as well.

The following day, we headed off to the famous walled city of Carrcasonne.

Carrcasonne fortress entrance.

After these tours around the area. Prakash showed us the other thing he’s been up to while in Toulouse. Cooking! He’s been taking cooking classes at a nearby school over the time he’s been in France and when we mentioned that we were interested in doing the same somewhere in France, he said his school would be a great place. Its very casual, just make a reservation for the day and session you want and show up on time! They do two sessions over lunch with a 30 minute cooking course where you prepare and cook an entire plate, but this is no “Rachel Ray 30 minute meals”, this is some seriously good food, prepared in a proper French way with a real chef guiding you. And then you eat the results! And then they give you dessert! And wine! And coffee! All for about 15 euro. Which makes it a pretty good deal to learn and eat a nice two course menu.

Another friend of Prakash in action at the cooking class.

We had a great time in Toulouse and Prakash was a great host, as was his host family.
