{"id":2325,"date":"2012-10-16T07:57:50","date_gmt":"2012-10-16T14:57:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/?p=2325"},"modified":"2012-10-18T05:19:01","modified_gmt":"2012-10-18T12:19:01","slug":"quick-stop-in-slovenia-and-austria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thejohnsonsjournal.com\/?p=2325","title":{"rendered":"Quick stop in Slovenia and Austria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Croatia our plan was to head to Munich for Oktoberfest. \u00c2\u00a0The best way to do this seemed to be to go through\u00c2\u00a0Ljubljana,\u00c2\u00a0Slovenia\u00c2\u00a0and Salzburg, Austria before taking a train to Munich.<\/p>\n<p>Although nether of these cities were &#8220;must sees&#8221; on our list of places to visit, we loved them both. \u00c2\u00a0Ljubljana,\u00c2\u00a0Slovenia&#8217;s capital city had the great cafe culture that Croatia had, but less touristy. \u00c2\u00a0 We took a walking tour with a local and learn about the rise and fall of\u00c2\u00a0Yugoslavia and the effect it has had on\u00c2\u00a0Slovenia.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/albums\/299\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Courtney touching the door\" src=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/photos\/8292\/medium.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courtney is touching the nose of the sculptor on the door. Apparently for good luck.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/albums\/299\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Dragon statue in Ljubljana\" src=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/photos\/8288\/medium.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"675\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of the guardian dragons which is Ljubljana&#8217;s icon.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Salzburg was a pretty little town with great\u00c2\u00a0Austrian-German\u00c2\u00a0cuisine\u00c2\u00a0and friendly beer halls. \u00c2\u00a0We tried the local Augustiner beer which went great with\u00c2\u00a0sausage\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0sauerkraut.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/albums\/300\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Castle in Salzburg\" src=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/photos\/8318\/medium.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is the castle in Salzburg, up on a hill above the old town.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We took a Sound of Music tour which went to the Von Trapp family house in the movie and many other\u00c2\u00a0scenes.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/albums\/300\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Us in front of the Sound of Music Gazebo\" src=\"http:\/\/photos.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/photos\/8311\/medium.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"675\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The &#8220;Sound of Music&#8221; gazebo!
