downtime in Hoi An"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hoi An turned out to be one of favorite little towns in Vietnam so far. \u00c2\u00a0It had a cute historic center with\u00c2\u00a0pedestrian\u00c2\u00a0only streets, a pretty riverfront, great nearby beach, and lots of cute\u00c2\u00a0restaurants. \u00c2\u00a0We were originally planning on staying 4 nights, but that turned into 6 and we could have stayed a few more days and not been bored.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Along An<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We spent our day visiting the tailors shops to get a few things tailored for an upcoming wedding, relaxing by the pool at the hotel or lounging on the beach. \u00c2\u00a0In the evening we had a walk on the riverfront to select a local\u00c2\u00a0restaurant\u00c2\u00a0to dine at. \u00c2\u00a0After dinner we take a long walk around the historic center or head over to the local\u00c2\u00a0patisserie\u00c2\u00a0for a desert and nightcap.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"The ladies fussing alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"675\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Evenings were lit by lanterns<\/p><\/div>\n<p>One morning we took a fantastic cooking class. \u00c2\u00a0Our host, Van took us on a market tour where we bought all our ingredients for the day. \u00c2\u00a0Then we went back to her house to prepare everything from start to finish. \u00c2\u00a0We learned how to prepare 8 different dishes and had a feast in the afternoon after we were all wiped out from the cooking. \u00c2\u00a0We&#8217;ve taken many cooking classes during our travels and this was by far the best.<\/p>\n<div
