While checking out the pier we ran into a lady who recommended we check out Brookgreen Gardens which were just south of there. We took her advice and weren’t disappointed. The gardens were on a former rice plantation and had tons of history and great sculptures. The walking tour was great and the zoo and aviary were pretty cool too.<\/p>\n

After the gardens we continued to Charleston. We got into town a little late so we just went to get some dinner close to our hostel. We went to the Hominy Grill. The food was awesome and when it got time to get dessert we got a recommendation from one of the customers leaving. We got the chocolate pudding, which doesn’t at first sound that great. But when we got it, it was obvious this was no Jello Pudding.<\/p>\n

The next day we headed out on the town to check out all the history and great sights.<\/p>\n

It seems that every town we go to has an amazing old Custom House building.<\/p>\n

We got to see the 4 corners of Justice which is the historic center of town. Now it includes a church, city hall, county courthouse and the post office.<\/p>\n

We took a walking tour of historic homes on the south side of Broad St. There are so many amazing homes in that area and they all seemed to have a interesting past. We got to go on a tour of one of the homes. Many of the homes including this one allow tours but are still lived in by the descendants of the original families.<\/p>\n

We also checked out the famous area of town called Rainbow Row because of the colorfully painted exteriors.<\/p>\n

We needed to take a break from all the walking so we stopped by a bar we saw while walking around. Had several of their own brews. I got their seasonal, a coconut porter. It kinda tasted like a mounds bar, but not really what I would go for in a beer normally.<\/p>\n
