After leaving Charleston, we stopped at the Angel Oak, which is a 1,500 year old live oak tree.\u00c2\u00a0 The oldest tree this side of the Mississippi, so they tell us.\u00c2\u00a0 And it was pretty impressive.<\/p>\n

We also made a stop for lunch in the town of Beaufort.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a cute little town with old Victorian homes, nice main street, and marina.<\/p>\n

Then we were off to Hilton Head Island for a few days thanks your friends, Pam and Aaron for letting us stay in the families condo on the Island.\u00c2\u00a0 We had a great time riding bikes around the island, cooking, and trying to catch crab.\u00c2\u00a0 We eventually caught a couple. First we caught a one clawed stone crab, then a small blue crab, which we tossed back in.\u00c2\u00a0 Then finally we caught a blue crab big enough to take home and cook.\u00c2\u00a0 While we were out there a fisherman saw the sad of shape we were in a gave us a redfish to cook up for dinner.\u00c2\u00a0 What a nice guy.<\/p>\n

The island had lots of little shops and restaurants around the many marinas.\u00c2\u00a0 We stopped by Town Harbor because I wanted to see the lighthouse and needed a break from crabbing all morning.<\/p>\n

When we got home we cooked up the fish, crab, pasta, salad, and\u00c2\u00a0 bottle of wine.\u00c2\u00a0 We found a recipe for blacked redfish that turned out wonderfully.\u00c2\u00a0 Scott even did a great job filleting the fish.\u00c2\u00a0 And the crab was a bit feisty, but we got him into the pot with no injuries.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Thanks again to Pam and Aaron and family for a great stay on Hilton Head Island.<\/p>\n
