We got to Savannah in the afternoon but it was raining so hard we decided to relax in the room for a bit. The rain stopped in the early evening so we decided to head out and see what there was close. We found a cemetery with signs of famous historic figures. One caught our eye and we figured it would be a favorite of my friend Paul.<\/p>\n

Later that night we had some dinner at the Moon River Brewing Company before going on the town for a Ghost tour. The beers were alright but not spectacular. The tour was entertaining.<\/p>\n

In the morning we set out to get breakfast and walked through a nice big park with fountains, statues and an amphitheater.<\/p>\n

We had a nice breakfast at The Sentient Bean was nice and the ambiance was comfortable.<\/p>\n

We then set out to walk the city and see some of the gardens that Savannah is famous for. There are 21 gardens in the city. Some of them have fountains.<\/p>\n

And some of them have a big line of people out front…<\/p>\n

Oh wait, that’s not a garden. That’s Mrs. Wilkes restaurant. Its only open Monday through Friday from 11 to 2 and you’ll have to wait in line to try it. Luckily it only took us 15 or 20 minutes to get in. We sat down to a table full of soul food including collard greens, candied yams, beef stew, mac and cheese and of course fried chicken. Everything was awesome and since its served family style, we got to sit down and share it with another family. We had a great time and a great conversation.<\/p>\n

After lunch we continued our walk around the town and saw some beautiful old homes and buildings. The south sure has some nice homes.<\/p>\n

The next day on our way out of town we made a stop at Fort Polanski. This was the fort which protected the rivers leading into Savannah in the Civil War.<\/p>\n

After our tour of the fort, we took a short walk out to take a look at the lighthouse.<\/p>\n

We then made it over to Tybee Island where we were able to see our second lighthouse of the day.<\/p>\n
