{"id":917,"date":"2010-02-11T20:34:47","date_gmt":"2010-02-12T03:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/?p=917"},"modified":"2010-09-02T04:55:30","modified_gmt":"2010-09-02T11:55:30","slug":"sydney-roadtrip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thejohnsonsjournal.com\/?p=917","title":{"rendered":"Sydney Roadtrip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After spending two weeks in Melbourne we decided to rent a campervan for a little roadtrip to Sydney via the coastal Princes Highway.\u00c2\u00a0 The campervan was fully equipped with a gas stove, sink, battery cooler, and all the cooking utensils we could need.\u00c2\u00a0 The back folded down into a double bed, so there was no need for a tent.\u00c2\u00a0 The drive took about 14 hours, but split over 5 days it didn&#8217;t seem long.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_922\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3392.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-922\" class=\"size-full wp-image-922\" title=\"IMG_3392\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3392.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3392.jpg 800w, https:\/\/thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3392-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cooking dinner in the campervan<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our first stop was Ninety Mile Beach and yes, it is ninety miles long (it&#8217;s also the longest single stretch of beach in Australia).\u00c2\u00a0 After a bit of sun we headed to Cape Conran Coastal Park to camp and do a little hiking.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_926\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3387.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-926\" class=\"size-full wp-image-926\" title=\"IMG_3387\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3387.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3387.jpg 800w, https:\/\/thejohnsonsjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/IMG_3387-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-926\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">You can&#39;t tell from the picture, but this beach is ninety miles long!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We hiked about 2 hours along the coastal trail over rocks and beaches.\u00c2\u00a0 On the way back we took the more shady inland route.\u00c2\u00a0 The views were spectacular, even though I managed to get a tick somewhere along the way. Good thing we noticed a few hours later and Scott was able to get it our before causing an paralysis (as we learned from signs around the park).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_923\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Beach at Cape Conran<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We entered into New South Wales and spent the night in the little fishing village of Eden.\u00c2\u00a0 In the morning, we stopped Mimosa Rocks National Park, known for the rocky beaches and rain forests.\u00c2\u00a0 Unfortunately, the beaches were blocked off and you had to view them from platforms about 100 feet away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_936\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a Jarvis Bay.\u00c2\u00a0 We hired snorkel gear for the day and although not as vibrant as Fiji, we had a good time.\u00c2\u00a0 The national park had a number of beautiful secluded white sandy little break from all the national parks and hiking to do a bit of wine tasting in the Shovalhaven region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_939\" style=\"width: 436px\" the Minnamurra Forest where we did a hike up to Minnamurra Falls.\u00c2\u00a0 The hike was a beautiful 1 and 1\/2 hour hike mostly on elevated walkways.\u00c2\u00a0 We pasted three other falls on the class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minnamura Falls<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We arrived in Sydney to rain and humidity, but we made the most of it.\u00c2\u00a0 We had some great Chinese food in Chinatown, walked through the Botanical Gardens with great views of the Opera House and Harbor Bridge, visited the exciting Darling Harbor, and did a bit of shopping.\u00c2\u00a0 Finally on our last day in Sydney we got a bit
