Around Town with Amanda and Nate

Posted: December 19th, 2011 by Courtney

We have had a great three weeks with Amanda and Nathan here visiting us.  We got to show them some of our favorite places  including 4 dollar pizza night at Lucky Coq, hot chocolate at Koko Black, great Thai food at Cookie, tapas at Movida, cupcakes, macaroons, and even a lasagna crepe pie (which was actually very good).

We also got out and saw some of the major tourist sites including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, National Galleries, Vic Market, Federation Square.

One of the most memorable nights was having dinner on the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant.  The trams are very iconic part of Melbourne life and culture and one of the unique things you can do in Melbourne is spend an evening on one of the restored old tramcars and have dinner.  We set off about 5:45 in the evening and rode down to the beachside suburb of St. Kilda while eating a great meal.  Following dinner, we headed to the Crown Casino, where Scott and Nate were both winners!  Good for them!

Another on of our outings was to Fitzroy to do some Christmas shopping and have a beer at the Little Creatures Dining Hall.

Later that evening we headed to the iconic Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar and Restaurant for a large Italian dinner.  We were very lucky and got to sit in the kitchen where we got to watch them cook for us.  After eating too much food, we made out way to the Rooftop Cinema to catch Hangover 2.

Before leaving, Amanda wanted to check out the bathing boxes at Brighton Beach, so on the last weekend we took the train to Brighton to enjoy a day of sun at the beach.
