Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted: November 30th, 2009 by Courtney

We arrived in Macon, Georgia on Wednesday before Thanksgiving and spent some time visiting the sites, including the Hay House and Ocmulgee National Monument.  The Hay House is one of Macon’s more beautiful mansions and now a house museum.  We learned that the owners went on a three year honeymoon in Europe.  Sounds nice.

The Ocmulgee National Monument preserves some of the  man-made mounds, which once were the sites of temples and a earthlodge, which was used for ceremonies for the “Creek” Indians.

On Thanksgiving Day we decided that since we couldn’t be with our families, we would volunteer to help others.  We decided to volunteer to serve Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless at the Salvation Army in Macon.

After finishing up at the Salvation Army, we left for Atlanta.  We checked into the fun little hostel in midtown and went to Mary Mac’s Tea Room for a wonderful southern style Thanksgiving dinner.
