Into the Desert

Posted: December 18th, 2009 by Courtney

We got into Santa Fe late in the evening checked into our hostel.  In the morning we had a look around the downtown.  The pueblo-style architecture was everywhere.  We went to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and learned a little bit about her life and art.   For lunch we tried some New Mexican cuisine including green chili stew and sopapillas.  Yumm!  Its nice to be back in the west where the Mexican food is in good supply.

The next day we went into Arizona and the Navajo Nation.  It was about a two hour drive to Canyon de Chelly in northern Arizona, but it was well worth the trip.  The canyon was absolutely amazing.   We did a short hike to the base of the canyon to see the White House, a Pueblo ruin in the canyon.
