Flashback Friday – Our First Backpacking Trip

Posted: August 28th, 2009 by Courtney

It has been five years since Scott, a few of our best friends, and I set off on our first backpacking trip – five weeks in Europe.  I had spent months looking at airfare before finding the right price just after Christmas.  I frantically called everyone to make sure they got their tickets before the prices went up.  After having the fights booked, we sat in Paul and Shannon’s living room and planned each leg of our trip.

After all the college graduations we were off!  We started out in London taking a double decker bus tour of the city.  After London, we rented a car had a wild time driving to Bath, York, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, and Glasgow.

Looking back, I think this trip was a great starting point to learn what it was like to travel with only a backpack full of your possessions.   And, if anything it only opened the door for waiting to travel even more.
