Day Two

Posted: October 18th, 2009 by Scott

Saturday night didn’t offer the best night sleep, we both tossed and turned a bit through the night and the temperatures in the 30’s at about 6800 ft. didn’t help.

We woke up to a pretty glorious sunrise and after a quick oatmeal breakfast we were ready to hit the road again.

Today’s goal was to get to, or at least close to the Grand Tetons just south of Yellowstone. We made great time leaving around 8am and arriving in Pocatello, ID for lunch just after noon (even with the surprise change to Mountain time). After a quick grocery run and gassing up the Jeep we were back on the road by 2pm and were able to make it to Jackson Hole, WY by 5 including several sight seeing stops along the Snake River.

After walking around town for a little bit we decided since it was getting so late in the afternoon that we would just get a hotel in Jackson for the night instead of trying to find a campsite and setup and cook dinner in the dark.

This change allowed us to check out our second brewery of the trip. Snake River Brew Pub. We got dinner and the sampler which included 8 tasters. All of them were good. Tops were the Pale Ale, Organic Brown Ale and “Zonker” Stout.

Tomorrow we plan to head up into the Tetons for some hiking and then down into Yellowstone to camp for the next couple nights.

Looks like the leaves are peaking for y’all! I’ve been scouting all the breweries around St. Louis and look forward to your visit.

To prevent frost bite on your bum, purchase a cheap sleeping pad from a surplus store for 5 bucks.

Hey Roomie!

Jackson Hole is one of my favorite places. The Tetons are amazing. I am so excited to read about your travels. Let me know if you guys ever make it East to NY.

We loved Jackson Hole. We will definitely go back if we are ever in the area. We are planning on visiting NYC in early November.
