Wet and Cold

Posted: October 19th, 2009 by Scott

Today we got up early and made our way into the Tetons. We got there just in time to snap a picture on the road in before the clouds really moved in.

We decided to go for a hike up to Hidden Falls and Insipration point. When we pulled up to the parking lot it started raining. We decided to bundle up and head out anyways. After a quick detour through the woods, Courtney took over navigation…

There were some nice views across Jenny Lake of the cloud veiled mountains.

The weather finally let up as we got up to the falls and Inspiration Point so we decided to take a break for lunch with our PB&J’s.

After our hike we continued up into Yellowstone to find a place to stay for the night. We found out that all of the accommodations in the park are closed for the season already. We considered our original idea of camping for the night but when driving through the campground in the pouring rain decided against it.

We did get a surprise encounter with wildlife when checking out the campground.

After all was said and done we ended up going outside the park to West Yellowstone to find a hotel.  We’ll try the camping again tomorrow, weather permitting.
