USA Summary

Posted: December 27th, 2009 by Courtney

We had a wonderful time exploring our home country.  We traveled to 27 states and drove 10,000 miles in just over two months.  We were pleasantly surprised by the diversity in architecture, cuisine, and history of the USA that thought we would share some of our favorites with you.

Favorite Beer: Pauwel Kwak (Courtney) and Boulevard Brewing Bourbon Barrel Quadrupel, a.k.a. BBQ (Scott)

Best Place for History: Boston’s Freedom Trail, Richmond’s Confederate Museum and White House, and Memphis’ Civil Rights Museum

Favorite Foods: Sweet tea, shrimp and grits, and BBQ ribs in Memphis

Most Unexpected Place We Enjoyed: Country music in Nashville, TN (Courtney even had to get a pair of cowboy boots)

Craziest Museum: St. Louis’ City Museum (its more of a playground than a museum)

Favorite National Park: Yellowstone

Coldest Camping Experience: Badlands in under 20 degree weather and some rain

Longest Stretch of Road: I-70 in Kansas

Favorite Tour: Walking tour of Charleston’s antebellum homes

Favorite Quote: “In you go” (As we were looking at a very hot, hot spring in Yellowstone Scott said to Courtney “Pretty neato.”  Courtney thought he said “in you go!”

Favorite Experience: Hanging out with all our friends and family that live across the country.  You guys really made this trip for us!  Thanks for hanging out with us!
