Wine tasting weekend in the Yarra Valley

Posted: February 24th, 2010 by Courtney

It’s looking like we might stay in Melbourne for a couple of months, so in between job interviews we decided to visit the Yarra Valley. We rented a little cottage in the heart of the valley for a weekend away from the city life.

Our cute little cottage

The local cows just off the patio

We visited about five different wineries including Domain Chandon, which is most know for its sparking wine, including Dom Perignon.  We were able to take a tour of the winery and learn how they make those bubbles in the wine. We also got to enjoy the wine country food including some yummy Italian food at De Bortoli Winery and a muscato sorbet at Innocent Bystandard Winery.

This guy wanted to go wine tasting as well

When we got back into Melbourne to return our car, we were glad to get ride of our rental car because driving in the city is very confusing.

What is that suppose to mean?

Hahaha, I love the traffic light photo! I just realized tonight that I never replied to your email that you sent to me and Susan…things were pretty busy, and I was about to go on a trip to India (just back…it was a quick 2 weeks off). I remembered you tonight because I am trying to find a yoga studio close to work. I feel so clueless!

Dude, isn’t that spider a brown recluse? Or anyway, something seriously nasty? But I guess you’re on the continent of poisonous things…otherwise, it’s a great place! I’m psyched for you.

It’s Girl Scout cookie season…time to break open my first box of thin mints. Eeeevil.

Best wishes,
Mina

That is so exciting for you guys! Good Luck in Melbourne. It is a great City to live in. Be sure to make it to Lygon St. (this is where I lived when I was there)…It’s Little Italy… with great cafes, restaurants, and street fairs in the summer.
